People who are interested in improving the appearance of their teeth with cosmetic dentistry may wonder which is better: composite bonding, or dental veneers. Like most cosmetic dentistry and tooth restoration solutions, the right choice depends on several factors, including cost, durability, and appearance.
MW Dentistry & Esthetics helps patients determine which procedures will produce the outcomes they want.
The Porcelain Veneers Process
Porcelain veneers are thin layers of porcelain, hand-crafted in a laboratory for a custom fit. Natural teeth may need to be shaped in order to accommodate veneers, and patients may be outfitted with temporary veneers until the lab is finished with the final veneers (a process that may take one to two weeks).
Veneers are a good solution for changing the appearance of one tooth, because they can be custom-colored to match existing teeth. Veneers can be costly, so some patients choose to have veneers applied only to those teeth that are most visible.
Maintaining Porcelain Veneers
With proper care, porcelain veneers can last 15 years or longer before they need to be replaced. Regular brushing, flossing, and professional cleaning helps preserve the luminosity of veneers. Porcelain is resistant to staining, but patients should brush and floss after consuming foods known to stain enamel – wine, tea, and dark berries, for example.
The Cost of Porcelain Veneers
We understand that cost is a concern for our patients. We can explain the costs of various procedures, to help our patients make an informed decision. And we also accept Care Credit financing, which allows patients to get the treatment they want without a large up-front expense.
